Plato’s Cave Allegory Excerpts

group of prisoners lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives since birth, they were facing a blank wall, watching shadows projected on the wall from objects passing in front of a fire behind them, and giving names to these shadows.

The shadows were the prisoners’ reality.

Suppose that someone tried to drag them outside the cave, they would resist him thinking that the sun is hurting their eyes, they will fight him to death to stay in the cave.
